It appears that this morning at around 11.00am, an elderly lady of 93 years was hit by a car and left to wait for at least two hours for the ambulance to assist her.

The incident took place at St Joseph Street, Luqa near the village church. The police from the police station located just a few meters away went on the spot. It seems that when they saw that the ambulance was going to take too long, they moved her to the entrance of a nearby house to shelter her from the scorching sun.

Needless to say, this is unacceptable. Whilst we want to believe that what led to this occurrence was another emergency, we do hope that this will not become a frequent issue.  Leaving a person of such age lying in the sun should never have happened.
