It looks like an Emirates airplane has caught fire earlier today at the Malta International Airport. Seemingly, to catch fire was the auxiliary power unit.
According to the Malta International Airport website, the only Emirates flight that landed in Malta earlier today after 13:00Hrs was Flight EK109 from Dubai/Larnaca.
Horizon reported, “Smoke was seen coming out of the APU exhaust door and fire services deployed. There is no indication that passengers were on board. Incoming aircrafts were put in holding pattern until situation was resolved as the airport closed temporarily.”
The situation is back to normal at the Malta International Airport as of 14:06Hrs.
