Have you been chosen to be the maid of honour? Well, you’ve got quite a role! A maid of honour (just like the best man), bears a lot of the load when it comes to helping the bride-to-be. It all starts from the preparation for the day to helping around on the day…

Knowing what your duties are will help make sure to be the best maid of honour the planet has ever seen! So pay attention here…

You are the one who needs to take care of the bridal team – the other bridesmaid, flower girl, etc. Just like a mother, you must remind them of their own duties on the day. Share the load of what needs to be done with them. However, you must be the one to take the lead and handle the most important things relating to the big day.

TASK 2: THE HENS PARTY

I am sure you are very aware that you need to host the hens party! Why do I suspect this is what you have been looking forward to most?! Anyhow, I don’t think I need to say much on this one… am sure you already have everything planned!

TASK 3: TAKE CARE OF THE NITTY GRITTY

These tasks can be often time consuming, and that’s why you’re taking care of them and not the bride-to-be. Believe me, she has already enough to take care of! These tasks, am sure you are already aware of; such as collecting gifts on the day and putting them in a safe place, accompanying the bride for final fittings, etc. In short words, you need to be on-call!

TASK 4: THE BRIDE’S DRESS

One very important task, is to be at hand to fix the bride’s dress and/or veil during the ceremony. Fan out her dress and veil, make sure it’s perfect for those wedding photos. Don’t let her stress and have to look out for you, be there without the need of a prompt!

TASK 4: KEEP THINGS HANDY

On the day, the bride might ask for certain things that you should keep at hand; such as lipstick, tissues, etc. You might also be asked to hold on the to wedding rings for the ceremony… so please make sure you do not misplace those!!!

TASK 5: HAVE A GOOD TIME

If you do it right, both you and the bride-to-be will have a wonderful time. Take lots of pictures, dance the night away and make it memorable!
