The commercial results of Apple in the first quarter of 2019, which also includes the holidays season, have made investors tremble. Revenues stopped just above 84 billion Dollars, 5% less than last year. Tim Cook chooses to run for cover: under accusation the ‘excessive’ prices of the Cupertino colossus.
The data concerning the sale of new versions of the iPhone, Apple’s flagship product, during the same period, are of particular concern.
Revenues from the smartphone sector fell by 15% compared to the first quarter of 2018. To exacerbate a picture already so certainly not positive, data from the Chinese market where the sale of iPhone Xr, Xs and Xs Max suffered a decline, even 27% compared to the same fraction of last year.
The explanation that has been given at the top o the Apple, is that the prices of the new iPhone are too high. Too high at least to withstand the competition of the same Chinese brands – Huawei to Xiaomi in the lead. However, the ‘revolution’ could begin, even before the next iPhone expected for September-October, from the new iPad models.
The new iPad models are expected for Spring. According to rumours, Apple works on the one hand to a ‘low cost’ sixth generation iPad and an equally economical fifth generation iPad Mini. Beyond the lowest price, one of the most important changes could be the connection port; on the other hand, the transition from a Lightning to a USB-C is excluded by many.
The screen could increase, from 9.7 inches to 10 inches, at the same time a decrease in the frames. In addition, the Home button, according to some experts, should also disappear from the iPad, both normal and mini. That said, there is also rumour of a ‘return’ of the iPod.
