As seen in the anticipation clip, Natasha is forced to return to what was once the Soviet Union, where she had been trained in the Red Room, an extreme KGB training project that took girls without families to turn them into infallible killers, at cost of unparalleled efforts and also of genetic experiments. Now the protagonist returns to her origins because she has “an account pending” and in doing so finds Yelena (Florence Pugh), who for her had been like a sister even if their new first meeting is not the most peaceful.
The nostalgic team also includes Rachel Weiz who plays Melina eDavid Harbor, who from Stranger Things passes here to play a weighted Red Guardian, the Soviet answer to Captain America.
The video also reveals which will be the main antagonist of the Black Widow, or Taskmaster, an incredible warrior born from the Nazi genetic experiments able to mimic the abilities of his opponents. Not much more is known about the plot but probably other details will be revealed in the coming months, before Black Widow, directed by director Cate Shortland, arrives in theaters around the world starting in May 2020.
