Important report from the American Academy of Pediatrics that invites to withdraw from the market the Fisher-Price Rock’n’Play Sleeper bouncer and warns parents not to use the product immediately.
Why? According to experts, this seat that should be used to secure children while they play or rest has been associated with the death of 32 newborns.
Kyle Yasuda, president of the American Academy of Pediatrics issued the alarm, in agreement with the Consumer Product Safety Commission:
“When parents buy a product for their newborns or their children, they think that buying it in a shop automatically makes it safe. Unfortunately this is not the case. There is compelling evidence that the Fisher-Price Rock ‘n Play Sleeper puts children’s lives at risk. This is why the Consumer Product Safety Commission must immediately withdraw from the US market in order to prevent future tragedies ”.
The children died from asphyxiation from 2011 to 2018. The seat is made in a way that, if the children turn during sleep, they can no longer return to the safety position and remain with their faces against the pillow, thus risking death for suffocation.
Chuck Scothon, manager of Fisher-Price, made it known through a note that the seats are designed to ensure maximum safety for children and that they will check the product, collaborating with the Consumer Product Safety Commission and the pediatricians’ association.
