‘An apple a day keeps the doctor away’, but is it true? Well yes, and as much as it is a saying from over 150 years ago it is still valid today!
The confirmation comes from several studies, including that of researchers at the University of Oxford, according to which this fruit would be particularly useful in the prevention of heart disease among people over the age of 50.
Prescribing an apple a day to all adults aged 50 and over in the UK, British experts explained, would help prevent about 8,500 deaths from heart attacks and strokes each year.
These are remarkable results that the researchers compared with those of other colleagues about some cholesterol control drugs. Minimal changes in the daily diet can therefore be very effective.
To support the study of English experts there are, among other things, also the research of American scientists from the University of Michigan. On the basis of their analysis, in reality, more than doctors, apples could keep pharmacists away!
Their research was based on a sample of about 8,500 American adults. In addition to emphasising how important it is to eat healthy, scholars have shown that those who consume an apple a day seem to use medical prescriptions less.
NB : Remember ‘mens sana in corpore sano’ … And if an apple is more helpful … Why not eat it?!?
