The Air Controllers closed runway at the Malta International Airport for some time following a drone sighting report. The drone was said to be hovering in the area at around 12.15pm.
It seems that this has impeded an aircraft landing at the airport. It appears that the drone was flown in the vicinity of Birżebbuġa. The Armed Forces of Malta and the police went on the spot to look for the person flying the drone. Runway operations returned to normal after about half an hour. No flights were canceled.
