From today you can choose between burial and cremation… this also means that a family may choose to keep the house the ashes of their dead relatives.

Today in Parliament they approved the law that will enable the Maltese to opt for cremation.

Last April, Rosianne Cutajar submitted the first bill for the cremation to be legalised and regulated by law. In her first comments after this law came into force, Cutajar said that this law was the natural step for a country that has chosen to be liberal and progressive.

This law will also allow families to choose to keep the ashes of their relatives who died.
