In Australia 13 million people have been placed in lockdown, that is, half of Australia’s population, in an attempt to curb the pandemic spread.
During Tuesday, a third Australian State was placed under lockdown with people in South Australia and Victoria and parts of New South Wales ordered not to leave their homes.
Since the start of the pandemic many Australians have expressed their great frustration after once more being ordered to remain at home except for necessities.
Official figures show that only 14% of the Australian population has been vaccinated, the east percentage throughout the OECD countries.
Prime Minister Scott Morrison is being harshly criticised for this low vaccination rate but he has refused to apologise.
He said no country in the world can boast of having managed in a perfect manner during the pandemic. He maintained the country had succeeded in keeping the rate of infections low when compared to other countries.
Morrison said that while total Australian Covid deaths were only 915, in Britain alone it had been reported that 90 people died in just one day.
