This is what we call unacceptable, whilst looking around us to make sure all our walls look intact! Yet another collapse, and thankfully yet again no mortalities and no one was injured.
This time it happened in Ħamrun, where three families, all living in the same block of apartments in Mimosa Street were evacuated this morning after a wall adjacent to a building site collapsed. The incident happened shortly before 8am.
This incident effects 16 adults and two children. Some ended up in tears as they surveyed the damage… apart from the visible shock due to their sudden evacuation. Others angrily protested that they had expressed concerns that this would happen, but had been assured that the wall was safe!
The architect involved said works have been ongoing for two months and proper procedures had been followed. Hmm…
The incident comes less than a week after a three-storey block adjacent to a construction site collapsed in Mellieħa, slightly injuring a woman who was trapped in the rubble. And another Gwardamanġa building collapsed last month, in an incident which shocked neighbourhood residents but resulted in no injuries.
