A particular accident yesterday during a helicopter rescue intervention in St. Anton, Tyrol, due to an accident at work at high altitude. As reported by the agency APA the helicopter rescue pilot Christophorus 5 would have suffered an illness while the rescuers were loading the wounded man on the helicopter.
The pilot lost control of the vehicle, which made a rotation on itself, touching the snowy slope with its tail and then landing. The patient fell out of the aircraft and a rescuer suffered slight injuries.
A second helicopter intervened on site, bringing the pilot and the rescuer to the hospital, while the injured worker was taken to the valley with an ambulance.
The Innsbruck prosecutor’s office and the Austrian flight safety authority are investigating the incident.
