From its institutional website, WhatsApp has announced that devices with the operating system iOS 8 and Android 2.3.7 will no longer be able to use the application starting from 1 February 2020, following an update of the instant messaging platform.
The platform has alerted its users that some features of these devices “may stop working at any time”, as the company no longer actively develops updates for these operating systems.
In this regard, for a correct operation of the app, the company recommends the use of the following software: operating systems Android 4.0.3, iOS 9, KaiOS 2.5.1 or later versions. Finally, the platform suggests updating the phones’ operating system to the latest versions available.
Currently, those who have operating systems or versions prior to those mentioned above, can no longer create new accounts or check existing ones. However, they can continue to use the service for the next 4 months until the deadline, scheduled for next February.
