The Indian city of Bangalore is home to one of the most luxurious luxury homes in the world: a replica of the White House, built on top of a skyscraper.
Vijay Mallya, president of the United Breweries Group, has always been one of the wealthiest men in India, but in 2010, when he announced plans to add a villa after the construction of the White House on top of a luxury skyscraper in Bangalore, people thought it was too much, even for him.
Despite this, the house at the top of the Kingfisher Tower in the heart of the city was taking shape. Unfortunately, his financial problems have meanwhile become one of the most debated topics in India, and in the end the billionaire left the country for the UK, leaving his dream home unfinished.
Mallya has always contested the allegations as the Indian government tried to have him extradited from the UK. The villa, like the whole palace, will presumably be contested if the tax offences of which the man is accused were proven.
Located on the 33rd and 34th floors of the Kingfisher Tower, the villa desired by Mallya covers an area of 40,000 square meters and was to include a cellar, a heated indoor pool, an outdoor infinity pool, a gym, a lounge and a spa, a roof with a helipad, among other services, but it is not clear how many have actually been completed. The building itself seems finished from afar, but a closer look reveals that the final details are missing.
Developed by Prestige Estates, the building was completed under the contract with Mallya, which included only the outer shell: the interior is instead a more complicated problem, since there is a legal problem in determining who the applicant is, after the legal problems of the Indian tycoon.
