“I’m not afraid of dying because I’m already dead“, says the character of Ciro Di Marzio in the first trailer released in relation to L’immortale, the film based on the acclaimed Sky series Gomorra, in turn an adaptation appreciated throughout the world of investigation novel by Roberto Saviano. To play the henchman of the Camorra is always the actor Marco D’Amore, who has entered the bowels of this character so much as to direct even the entire film that concerns him and that will go back to his roots in his very origins.
The film, in fact, as we understand from this anticipation takes its start in the icy waters of the Gulf of Naples, where Ciro is sinking killed by the friend-enemy of all time Genny Savastano at the end of the third season of the series. On the point of death man remembers exactly how it all began, starting from the fact that he earned his nickname having survived the 1980 Irpinia earthquake. Left without a family, the young Ciro grows up without a guide until he bumps into it. in organised crime, of which it ranks until it becomes the leading exponent and the infallible killer we know from serial episodes.
In addition to digging into its more distant past, L’immortale will also take care of the more recent one, acting as a link between the third and fourth seasons of Gomorra. Some phrases from the trailer, such as “But then it is true what is said: the Immortal does not kill anyone“, they would suggest that the protagonist could have been saved from the ambush and this would justify many action scenes that see him at the centre in an era probably near. It is too early to say if the film, written by D’Amore together with Leonardo Fasoli, Maddalena Ravagli and Francesco Ghiacciowill actually take that turn. The answers will come soon, however, given that the film will be in theatres on December 5th.
