The ‘Madonna tal-Karmnu’ Basilica is currently closed as the monks’ community is in quarantine. On the social media, the Carmelite Priory in Valletta said that the Sanctuary will remain closed until the 2 August.
Last Friday, the community celebrated the feast of Our Lady of Carmelite, which is celebrated on the 16 July.
Similar to other feasts, the procession was cancelled however religious functions were held, including the evening Mass which was concelebrated by Archbishop Charles Scicluna.
Meanwhile, the Monks notified that today, on the occasion of the solemnity of St Elias, Vespers will be held and transmitted on the social media as the Sanctuary will be closed.
