The European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control has placed Malta on its red list for travel after the spread of Covid-19 increased substantially over the last few weeks.
The map which is published every Thursday shows the situation of European countries when it comes to positive Coronavirus cases.
This is part of the recommendation of the Council on a coordinated approach for restrictions linked to free travel in reaction to the pandemic.
Malta was placed on the red list after over the last two weeks the rate of cases increased to 122 for every 100,000 people while the positivity rate is now 4.08%.
A country which is placed on the red list is one which has between 75 and 200 cases for every 100,000 people and when the rate of positive cases is more than 4%.
