The Malta Public Transport has announced it will be offering a new service to its customers. One can book a place on one of the new buses through Align App.
This service is a pilot project through which passengers can choose the time and when and where they want to travel. This system automatically checks the best available travel and provide confirmation to the passenger with details of their journey.
The General Manager of the Malta Public Transport, Konrad Pule’ said that “this is a completely new approach to public transport and the feedback we received after intensive testing period in the past weeks has been very encouraging.”
TD Plus uses technology to match the demands made by different passengers and automatically selects the most efficient route. The purpose of this service is to offer passengers higher efficiency and save time.
Customers can book a number of passengers on one trip, and request access for wheelchairs or pushchairs. This system also sends notifications to inform passengers that the bus is on a bus stop nearby.
Malta Public Transport will be offering this service on several bus stops in these locations; Valletta, Floriana, Pieta’, Blata l-Bajda, Msida, San Ġwann, St Julian’s, Swieqi and Pembroke. This service is available daily between 05.30am and 10.30pm.
Anyone who uses this service during the month of June will be paying €2 per trip for those passengers who book through Align App. Customers can choose to pay for their journey by Align credit on their card, or use their credit card.
This service will be offered by six minibuses that will be accessible to everyone. Where there will be a service of free WiFi and USB charging points for further convenience. These minibuses accommodate up to 16 passengers.
