On Saturday 4th and Sunday 5th May 2019, The Mdina Ditch will come to life for the 11th Edition of the Mdina Medieval Festival organised by the Mdina Local Council.
During the two day festival, visitors can expect to be entertained with re-enactments by foreign and local groups, Medieval Music, Sbandieratori, Illusionist, Jesters, Falconry and birds of prey, Medieval Market, and a Children’s Area with ongoing activities.
During the festival, the participants will perform various battles, skirmishes, re-enactments of scenes from the Medieval Period, Sword Fighting, Archery, Medieval Tavern, Magic Shows, Live Music, Birds of Prey flights, Parades, Flag Throwing shows, and spontaneous re-enactments. One can join in a tour around the City guided by a Tour Guide.
The Casino Notabile in Saqqajja will also be open to the public with an exhibition by Compagnia Spade & Daghe.
The Medieval Festival serves as an educational experience, allowing both adults and children to get immersed in Mdina’s history and the Medieval period in Malta. In addition, the festival serves as an exchange opportunity for local talents and foreign groups, disseminating the cultural heritage of the Medieval Times.
