Last Monday, at about noon, in San Gennaro Vesuviano, in Via Cozzolino, just outside Naples, a 35-year-old man threw his 16 month old daughter the balcony on the second floor and killed himself right after.
The child died instantly. He is hospitalised in serious condition at Cardarelli, hospital of Naples. Reports suggest the couple had problems. The story is still to be reconstructed, as it is to determine whether the two were about to break up or not.
The parents of the child live in Caserta; the man’s mother-in-law lives in the apartment where the tragedy occurred. The image portrays scenes of desperation of the relatives of the little girl in Naples. The maternal grandfather asked to see the child’s body.
Early reconstruction of what happens states that while his wife was loading the washing machine, the husband took the child and, from the ground floor where the house of San Gennaro Vesuviano (Naples) is located, climbed up the stairwell and from the window on the second he first threw the child and then himself.
From the father no explanation of the gesture. No explanation why he threw his 16-month-old daughter, Ginevra, from the balcony and killed her. Admitted to the Cardarelli hospital in Naples, he is currently undergoing a delicate spinal operation.
