On an investment of €350,000 the Cleansing and Maintenance Division is to establish a section that will operate in the St Paul’s Bay area on a 24/7 basis.
During a media conference the Minister for Tourism, Clayton Bartolo, said this initiative will see the use of new equipment that will continually be used at Burmarrad, Qawra, Buġibba as well as Xemxija.
The Minister said these areas offer challenges that have to be tackled on an immediate and long-term basis. He aid these are populated areas that have 30,000 inhabitants and therefore the need for continual cleansing on a regular basis.
The Parliamentary Secretary for Consumer Protection and Public Cleansing, Deo Debattista, said that as a result of this initiative employees and machinery will be disposable at all times to deal with any exigency that occurs in these localities.
