The jam without sugar has only one contraindication to keep in mind: it lasts less. It is one of the reasons why industrial jams are hardly healthy: to make them last longer and to preserve them for a long time, they are filled with sugars. On the contrary, without sugars and similar, the jam should be consumed quickly once opened. For fruit lovers, here are three ancient recipes of jam without sugar: strawberries, apricots and apples.

STRAWBERRIES AND GINGER JAM

Here are ingredients and procedure to prepare strawberry and ginger jam:

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams of strawberries
  • Juice of a lemon
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 teaspoon of ginger powder

PREPARATION

  • Wash the strawberries, remove the stalk and cut into cubes;
  • Slice also the carrot and then merge it with cubes;
  • Add the lemon juice and leave to stand for about an hour (the rest time is needed to ferment the fruit in a natural way);
  • Pour the fruit in a pot after the time of rest, add half a glass of water and then cook over low heat for about 40 minutes;
  • Add the ginger and mix;
  • Pour the still boiling jam in sterilised glass jars, close them with the lid;
  • Let them stand upside down for a whole day.

APRICOT JAM

Here are ingredients and procedure to prepare apricot jam:

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams of apricots
  • ½ lemon juice
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 apple

PREPARATION

  • Wash the apricots, peel and cut into cubes;
  • Slice the apple and carrot and then add them to the cubes;
  • Add the lemon juice and let it rest for about an hour;
  • Pour the fruit into a pot spent time resting and adding half a glass of water;
  • Cook over low heat for about 40 minutes;
  • Pour the still hot jam into sterilised glass jars;
  • Close them with the lid and store.

INGREDIENTS

  • 500 grams of apples
  • ½ lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon of cinnamon powder
  • ½ glass of water

PREPARATION

  • Wash and peel the apples and cut them into small cubes;
  • Pour the cubes into a pot, add the lemon juice, half a glass of water and a teaspoon of cinnamon powder;
  • Cook over low heat for about 40 minutes;
  • Blend the jam with an immersion blender and then transfer it into the glass jars for storage.
