An ultralight plane crashed on the A26 Genoa-Gravellona Toce motorway. It happened this morning at the 65th km between the junctions of Alessandria Sud and A 21 Torino-Piacenza. The pilot is dead. The crash in the emergency lane did not involve vehicles in transit.

Firefighters have already arrived and many traffic police patrols are coming. There would be no injuries or cars involved. The ultralight is a single-seater with only one person on board, the pilot who has died and who has not yet been identified.

The motorway is currently open and traffic flows on a single lane towards Gravellona. The traffic police are working to reconstruct the dynamics of the accident, it is not clear in fact why the pilot crashed on the highway or if his was an emergency landing attempt. The aircraft was currently pushed to the edge of the roadway.

Motorists who witnessed the scene speak of a sudden maneuver before the crash. Traffic has been diverted to the fast lane.
