Around 100 firefighters were at work in east London yesterday to tame a violent fire in a six-story building, completely enveloped in flames.

15 fire trucks were mobilised in the Barking area. The alarm went off around 4.30pm (Malta time). The burning building, which is a condominium, was surrounded by fire from the ground floor to the sixth floor, firefighters said, explaining that the causes are not yet known. Residents of neighboring buildings were evacuated and the surrounding streets were closed.
