Eurovision Song Contest 2019 is just around the corner, and the countries’ rehearsals on stage started on Saturday 4th May.

Today was Michela’s first shot at on-stage rehearsals… Before the 1st rehearsal Michela got instructions on safety, the dressing room area was presented, and there was an In-Ear Monitoring Rehearsal backstage.

Michela was amazing, and she did an amazing job for her first time on the Eurovision stage. She looked confident on stage, she has actually come a very long way from the shy Michela on stage at XFactor Malta!

What you will see in the video clips does not really reveal what the final show will be like; so expect more. According to sources close to Unravel Malta, the show will be like nothing Malta has ever presented on stage. So exciting!

After watching her first rehearsal, we can say that the performance includes some killer choreography by Ambra Succi, the choreographer behind Loreen’s winning Eurovision performance. Also amazing graphics by the graphics gods at Front Pictures.

Michela was wearing all-white, however there was non-stop colour explosions on the stage! Most of the performance consists of zoomed in shots. There was also a half cube LED box on the stage.

The LED box changes ‘scenes’ throughout the performance. At first Michela can be seen in a window. Then, she opens a door and it reveals a bedroom which turns into an underwater scene with fish swimming around her. Over the first two and a half minutes we see many scenes including an urban cityscape, a desert, a jungle, and the clouds. There’s a trusted chameleon in each shot changing colour! As we break in to the final chorus, Michela starts pulling out the big notes. The stage is very busy but is as colourful as you could imagine and it really works.

After the 1st rehearsal the Maltese delegation went to the Viewing Room, to see the recording of the rehearsal. Here any changes on visuals, camera work, choreography, etc. was discussed. After this, there was a Makeup Consultation, and the Press Meet & Greet took place.

Malta’s second rehearsal will take place on Saturday 11th May and they will be performing eleventh in the second semi final on Thursday 16th May.

Now we wait for Michela’s second rehearsal. Knowing her, she will do even better than she did today (if that can be even possible!). Then, after the 2nd rehearsal the Maltese delegation will go to the Viewing Room again to see the result. Small adjustments might be made. After this, the delegation will hold a Press Conference.
