Strong gusts of wind have scourged the Adriatic coast in the province of Ascoli Piceno from Cupra Marittima to Porto d’Ascoli. Bathers and tourists escaping from the beaches where several lifeguard stations have been uprooted.

In Grottammare the wind has overturned a pedalo on the beach. Umbrellas and furnishings have flown in the bathing establishments and from the terraces of the buildings.

On the highway Ascoli mare at the junction for Monsampolo del Tronto in the direction of the capital, a tree was thrown by the wind along the road axis and it was necessary the intervention of the fire brigade to remove it from the roadway. No car was involved.

In the late morning of Wednesday, however, a violent hailstorm hit Pescara. At least eighteen people ended up in the emergency room due to the wounds caused by hail grains as big as oranges. In the hospital also a pregnant woman, with wounds to the face and head.
