The strong earthquake – which occurred on December 15 at 14:00 local time – affected the southern part of the Philippines. According to the American Geophysical Institute (USGS), the quake was located 5 km southeast of Magsaysay, in the province of Davao del Sur, at a depth of 28.2 km. Tsunami risk excluded.
As reported by local authorities, there would be at least 4 victims, including a 6-year-old child. The president’s office said that at the time of the earthquake Rodrigo Duterte was with his daughter in his home in Davao City, right in the affected province. Both remained unharmed.
