When you think you have heard them all, on this tiny little island, here comes something else to make you say WHAAAAAT?!?!

Now here it goes… my elders used to call us kids “dubbien t’Għawdex” whenever we were being pests…. turns out that it might have been quite a compliment since now Gozitan flies are protected. Yeah, you heard that right!

This was reported by a local news portal earlier this week…

Now, April 1st has come and gone and thus we assume this ain’t no joke! I mean, for all of you who did not even bother to read the whole article, this might sound outrageous…

Yet if one reads carefully enough, you’d know that “id-dubbiena t’Għawdex” is in actual fact another name for a special orchid found in Gozo, that gets its name from its shape (it looks like a fly!)…

Do you get it now?! Am sorry to say that even Minister Evarist Bartolo seems to have got this one wrong…. heqq himm!

And here guys, we rest our case!
