Tomorrow, Thursday 14th March around the world, World Kidney Day will be celebrated. The theme “Healthy kidneys for everyone and everywhere”.
In connection with this, one should know that on our islands there are around 300 kidney patients, who need to make regular blood dialysis to clean their blood from toxins. It is also good to know that it not the first time that these patients needed blood transfusions. Thus The National Blood Transfusion Service appeals to anyone who is fit to offer assistance to such patients by donating blood.
If you can, this is where you can go to donate blood:
- Center of Blood Donation of G’Manġa opening Daily (including Sundays and Public Holidays) from 8: 00am to 6: 00pm (last entry at 6:00pm)
- Mobile Blood Donation Unit to Sunday 17th March from 8: 30am until 1: 00pm will be in front of the administrative building Siggiewi Local Council located in the Square in front of the church parish
- Auberge of Xewkija Gozo to Sunday 17th March will be available for blood donations from 8: 00am until 1: 00pm (last entry at 1: 00pm)
- Mobile Blood Donation Unit to Tuesday 19th March from 8: 30am until 1: 00pm will be in the parking Business Village PAMA Mosta.
It is important to take with you your ID card or driving license or Maltese passport, and possibly encourage others to donate as well.
