Elon Musk and musician partner Grimes welcomed their newborn son in recent days – let’s take a look at how to pronounce the baby’s very complicated name.
Elon Musk and his musician partner Grimes baffled fans with the name of their newborn baby son on Tuesday.
The 48-year-old tech billionaire revealed he and Grimes, 32, had welcomed their son after he posted a snap holding his bundle of joy to Twitter.
Upon making the announcement, Elon was quizzed by fans over the name of their baby – X Æ A-12 Musk.
Most followers were baffled at how to pronounce the extraordinary name, and some speculated the string of characters is a riddle or equation that adds up to a different name.
Some concluded that the baby was actually named X Ash Archangel after guessing that A-12 referred to a Lockheed aircraft that is nicknamed Archangel.
One of those tweets was liked by Musk, implying it may well be correct.
Other guesses were Sasha Archangel, Aoife and Xeo.
X Æ A-12’s complicated first name has no confirmed pronunciation as of yet, as Elon is yet to shed some light on his son’s incredible name.
But according to Business Insider, there is an idea it could be pronounced as “Ecks Ash A minus 12”.
It’s reported that the letter ‘X’ could be pronounced as it sounds, or it could stand for “ten” as it is the roman numeral for 10.
In true Musk-style, the first photo of the baby was rather unusual, featuring a tattoo filter.
Æ’ is known as an ash, and the actual sound the symbol refers to is very much like the letter A in “cat” or “bad”.
While ‘A-12’ has been guessed in reference to an air craft or a maths equation – A-12=O.
One confident fan tweeted: “worked out that “X Æ A-12” is actually just “xaeal” (L being the twelfth letter of the alphabet) so their name is probably pronounced ‘zale’ thank you for your time.”
Another joked: “It’s pronounced ‘Norman'”.
The South African born billionaire made his romance with the quirky singer official – Claire Elise Boucher – at the 2018 Met Gala and it is their first child together.
